First birthday sessions are such an important milestone in a child’s life. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the ability to watch my client’s babies grow. I have had many newborn clients return to the studio for their first birthday photo sessions and it has truly been an honor. I was blessed enough to be chosen capturing those first precious moments, and now I am able to capture their personalities a year later, so fun! Being a momma myself I know choosing a photographer to document this important milestone does not come lightly. I am here to make you feel comfortable and help you every step of the way!

We have so much fun in the ShayLeigh Photography Studio during our first birthday sessions. I love being able to see those sweet little personalities come out! In this post, I am going to share my three most favorite first birthday session ideas.

1. The Cake Smash

How cute is this babe covered in frosting and cake?! Some babies dive right into the cake, leaving a messy cuteness everywhere, while others are more hesitant to dive in. Both reactions to the cake in front of them are equally as cute, and create the most adorable photos!

2. The Milk Bath

I love the idea of a Milk Bath for first birthday photo sessions. The only thing that can be cuter than a baby smashing cake all over their face, is a baby splashing in the tub! Milk Bath sessions are customized to each client, Anything you dream we create for your baby’s session. For birthday boys, one of my favorites would be a milk bath with cookies. 3. Themed Session for Birthday Party Invites/Announcements

Having a themed shoot for your baby’s birthday party invitation creates a memory that you can save forever. Themed photo shoots cater to what you want included in the session. These shoots bring creativity to the table, and can create beautiful custom albums which are available for order here at my studio. The themed photo pictured above was a farmers market theme shoot, and turned into a favorite of mine.
